Voice — Cloud Mist Labs

Voice · v0.1

Quiet, technical,
specific.

We sound like the smartest person in the room who never raises their voice. We name what we did, not what we hope. Field notes, not press releases.

In one breath

We work in layers. We sign what we ship. We don’t oversell.

The rhythm

Short sentences. Periods over commas. Numbers over adjectives. One idea per line.

Four principles.

Internalize these, write anything.

  1. Principle 01

    Quiet.

    Confidence with the volume down.

No exclamation points. No 'super excited to share'. No emoji. A finding lands harder when the room is calm.

  2. Principle 02

    Specific.

Numbers, names, dates — never vibes.

Replace "modern", "robust", "scalable" with the actual property. "Eight signed checkpoints" beats "rigorous". A measured outcome beats a felt one.

  3. Principle 03

    Honest.

Name the limits before the wins.

We say what we didn't do, what we'd do differently, what the rollback was. Trust compounds; selling depletes.

  4. Principle 04

    Layered.

Top of mind, then mid, then deep.

Open with the takeaway. Then the method. Then the detail. The reader should be able to stop reading at any time and not miss the point.

Vocabulary.

Words we use, words we avoid.

  • Describing what we do

Yes: We rebuilt a Dubai retailer's order system end-to-end in 8 months. Same data, same business, half the failure modes.

Avoid: We empower next-gen, AI-ready data infrastructure for tomorrow’s enterprises.

  • Describing the team

Yes: A three-person practice in Dubai. Ghaith leads services and data. Saeed leads edge. Fatema runs discovery.

Avoid: A passionate, world-class team of innovators dedicated to your success.

  • Describing outcomes

Yes: p95 latency on the customer search endpoint dropped from 1,200ms to 240ms. No incidents in the eight weeks after launch.

Avoid: We delivered a 10x performance boost and unlocked unprecedented scale.

  • Describing problems

Yes: Three implicit dependencies in the integration layer. The team had stopped honouring an invariant nobody could name.

Avoid: Significant technical challenges and legacy complexity hindered the team’s velocity.

Repeat these — they’re the brand
  1. “A calm system is a correct one.”
  2. “Three strata. One team.”
  3. “We read systems before we change them.”
  4. “We sign what we ship.”
  5. “Field notes, not press releases.”
  6. “One quiet team, end to end.”
Avoid
  • world-class · best-in-class
  • cutting-edge · next-gen · AI-powered
  • empower · unlock · supercharge
  • passionate · dedicated · obsessed
  • seamless · frictionless · effortless
  • revolutionary · game-changing · disruptive
  • "We’re excited to…"
  • "Reach out to learn more!"
  • emoji as decoration
  • exclamation points (one per quarter, max)

Same idea, three contexts.

A UAE logistics company rebuilds order tracking — said three ways.

  • Marketing site · public

A Dubai logistics firm rebuilt order tracking without stopping deliveries.

8 months. 4 signed checkpoints. 0 missed shipments during cutover.

  • Client doc · brief

Replace the order tracking system, end-to-end, across web and mobile.

Phases in order: scope, design, build, ship. New system runs in parallel with old for 6 weeks. Cutover happens at quarter-end, signed by Ghaith at deploy.

  • Internal · standup
    ghaith · order-tracking cutover scheduled m6 → m8.
ghaith · parallel run starts next week, monitored daily.
    ghaith · if shadow-read < 99.9% by m7 we slip, no negotiating.

Cloud Mist Labs · software consulting for serious systems, working in three strata.

paragraph · ~60 words

Cloud Mist Labs is a three-person software consulting practice in Dubai. We work in three strata — Edge, Services, Data — and we believe a calm system is a correct one. Discovery, full build, advisory, AI readiness. One quiet team, end to end. Since 2026.

full bio · ~150 words

Cloud Mist Labs is a software consulting practice founded in Dubai in 2026. We work in three strata — Edge, Services, Data — and we cover all three end to end on every engagement.

We are three people: Mhd Ghaith Al Abtah (founder · Services + Data), Saeed Al Dahi (Edge · design + mobile), and Fatema Alabdalla (practice & discovery). We take one engagement at a time, end to end. No account managers, no junior engineers learning on your dime.

We work with UAE/GCC businesses, regional startups, and government and enterprise clients undergoing digital transformation. We publish what we learn — short essays we call field notes — when an engagement allows.
